Calvary John James sponsors ACU nursing scholarship
17 December 2009
The 'Calvary John James Hospital Scholarships' are valued at $2500 each and will be awarded to Bachelor of Nursing students for their second and third years of study.
The aim of the scholarships is to give students who may be financially, physically, socially or culturally disadvantaged the opportunity to pursue their nursing studies.
Associate Professor Patrick McArdle, Canberra Campus Dean, said he was thrilled to learn about the new scholarships.
"These generous donations will ensure the University continues to be a quality provider of health care, and specifically encourage and promote careers in nursing," he said.
Ann Cassidy, CEO of Calvary John James Hospital, said that the hospital was proud to partner with the University in this new venture.
"ACU shares with Calvary John James a common goal of encouraging people to reach their full potential," she said. "These scholarships will help to create opportunities and remove barriers for deserving students."
The first Calvary John James Hospital scholarship will be offered in 2010 and a second in 2011.
