MATERNITY UNIT

Planning on having a baby in Canberra?  You won't get better care and support than from the midwives and staff in the maternity unit at Calvary John James.  You will have the opportunity of attending ante-natal education sessions including breast feeding workshops and a refresher class.  The hospital also holds ante-natal and postnatal classes that include pelvic floor exercises that are run by physiotherapists.  A lactation consultant is available to assist you whilst you are in hospital and our pre-admission clinic will provide you with an opportunity to discuss your individual birthplan with a midwife. We have anaesthetists on-call 24hrs a day.

While you enjoy your stay at Calvary John James you will be able to participate in the daily baby bathing demonstrations and post-natal baby massage classes.  We will also arrange a special "Romantic Couples" dinner on the night before discharge.

REHABILITATION UNIT

Calvary John James Hospital opened the first private purpose built rehabilitation unit in Canberra in April 2008.  The unit comprises of 20 inpatient beds, two gymnasiums, a hydrotherapy pool and Day Patient Programs.

The unit  has a team of dedicated specialist staff who provide a variety of rehabilitation programs including orthopaedic, neurological, re-conditioning and amputee. Rehabilitation provides the care, therapy and support needed to assist towards attaining maximum independence following surgery, an accident or a major illness.

SURGICAL SERVICES

Surgical procedures are performed at the hospital by a variety of surgeons specialising in Ears, Nose & Throat surgery, Gastric / Lap Banding procedures, Gastroenterology, Gynaecology, Oral Maxillofacial surgery, Orthopaedics, Paediatric surgery, Plastic Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, Urology, Vascular Surgery and General Surgery.

Calvary John James is the largest private hospital in Canberra with seven theatres and one procedure room in the main theatre complex.  The hospital also manages the Lidia Perin Memorial Hospital which is a contemporary stand alone day surgery hospital incorporating two theatres.  Lidia Perin is currently being refurbished and aims to be the leading day surgery hospital in Canberra.

The Canberra Bariatric Service has recently opened the door of  their new consulting rooms which are located within the main corridor of the hospital.  Lap Banding and Gastric Banding surgery is only performed in two locations in Canberra.
