Our Hospital - General Information

Calvary John James Hospital is the largest private hospital in the ACT, it provides an extensive range of general medical and surgical specialties including maternity, gynaecology, paediatrics, orthopaedics, urology, gastroenterology, thoracic surgery, vascular, plastics, dental, ENT and a purpose built rehabilitation unit with hydrotherapy pool.

 Zouki Cafes

There are two Zouki Cafe's situated within the hospital grounds providing breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea from Monday to Saturday.  One cafe is located just past the main reception area and the second cafe is situated in the outdoor courtyard down the main corridor past the Rehabilitation Unit.

Breakfast Menu includes bacon and egg rolls, hash browns, fresh fruit and home made yoghurt and fruit.

Lunch Menu includes assorted sandwiches, hot and cold rolls, salads and a variety of hot dishes.

Delicious slices, cakes and muffins are always available and is a nice accompaniment with a hot cappucino or flat white.

Pastoral Care Service

The hospital has a number of authorised Pastoral Care personnel, of all denominations, who may visit patients within the hospital. Please advise the staff during admission if you wish to have a visit from a Pastoral Care officer.

Patient Handbook

Each bed is equipped with a patient handbook which contains more detailed information about hospital services and facilities in your room.

Please ask the nursing staff for a handbook if one is not easily accessible to you.

Patient Satisfaction

We are committed to providing a quality health care service, and want to ensure that you have been provided with the best possible care during your stay.

Prior to discharge you will be given a Patient Satisfaction Survey which we encourage you to complete. The survey can be returned to hospital staff, or mailed back at a later date.

Information from the survey is regularly reviewed, and changes to policies, procedures, and services are implemented where possible to reflect patient feedback.

Pharmacy

Although your doctor will arrange any medication you require, the pharmacy is available for the filling of patient prescriptions or general over-the-counter medications.

 

Telephones

There is a telephone adjacent to every bed for patient use. Phone cards may be purchased for STD calls. Patients may bring their own mobile phone with them.

Television and Radio

Each bed is provided with a radio, and colour television with access to local channels and Foxtel.

Veterans’ Liaison Officer

The hospital has a Veterans’ Liaison Officer to assist eligible veterans and war widows. Members of the ex-service organisations may visit you.
