About Us

Calvary John James Hospital is a not-for-profit hospital that provides comprehensive inpatient and day surgery services including orthopaedic, general surgery, ENT, urology, gastroenterology, vascular, obstetrics and gynaecology and plastic surgery. We also provide general medical and both inpatient and day program rehabilitation services.

Located in the quiet suburb of Deakin, Calvary John James Hospital and Lidia Perin Memorial Hospital are situated on adjacent blocks. Both hospitals are low level constructions, and with the majority of wards being located on one level, are easily accessible for those with mobility difficulties.

The Calvary John James site covers four hectares of land, integrating extensive gardens which provide a sanctuary for patients and visitors alike.

We have over 400 employees and believe they are the foundation of our business. While our staff work hard, as you would expect in any health care organisation, we also value them by providing fortnightly staff barbeques, fresh fruit baskets in each area and have given them a voice to shape the environment they work in.

Calvary John James Hospital is owned by the Little Company of Mary Health Care, a national organisation providing hospital services, aged care, palliative care and home care services in 26 locations around Australia.

Little Company of Mary acquired John James Memorial Hospital on 16 October 2006 and although its name has changed the excellent service and patient care continues in line with the values of hospitality, healing, stewardship and respect.
